This sensitive renovation breathes new life into a mid-century Austin home originally designed by a prominent local architect. While preserving the strong bones and classic geometry of the original structure, the design adds clarity, openness, and livability for a young family seeking both heritage and comfort.
The heart of the home is an 80-foot-long light-filled living spine that connects gathering spaces and sleeping quarters along a gentle curve. Full-height glass, custom sliding doors, and thoughtful transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces help blur the threshold between architecture and nature. Lofts in the children’s bedrooms recall the playful spirit of the original home, while updates to materials and layout speak to a more contemporary lifestyle.
