Our Team At Webber + Studio, Inc.

David is the Principal, founder, and heart of Webber + Studio. His work as a distinguished architect has been recognized nationally and internationally. His commitment to both his craft and his team is reflected in the many award-winning designs and satisfied clients the studio continues to create. 

Born and raised in Austin, TX, David achieved his Bachelor of Architecture with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992. He founded Webber + Studio in 1997. He is a registered architect in several states. 

David’s commitment to his craft is evidenced not only by the award-winning designs he creates, but also by the exemplary team he leads. In addition to his numerous accomplishments as a distinguished architect, David is a gifted manager, mentor, and friend to each and every young designer he works with. He is passionate about building a better world and has served on the Board of Directors for Frameworks Community Development Corp., the Board of Directors for the Ballet Austin, AIA Austin’s Facilities Committee, and was a Co-Chair for the AIA National Committee on Design at the Spring 2017 Conference.

Andres’ agility and commitment to good design benefit each and every project he works on. He is a problem-solver and analyzer, and his analytical approach to work ensures careful execution of even the most complex design problems. 

Andres is a native of Medellin, Colombia, where he is licensed as an architect. He spends his free time dancing, playing soccer, and spending time with his family.

Andrew is an accomplished Designer and Project Manager with a diverse range of projects spanning over 11 years. His expertise ranges from site assessment and project design and development to construction detailing and management.

Andrew grew up in Los Angeles, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) before relocating to Austin with his family in 2021.

Throughout his career, he has worked on a wide range of projects and construction types, including heavy timber and log structures, traditional wood frame buildings, and modular steel structures. Notably, he also holds a patent for a modular housing framework system. While Andrew enjoys all phases of the design process, he takes great pride in his aptitude for solving complex design issues, especially when it comes to mediating the balance between structural requirements and design aesthetics.

Outside of work, Andrew treasures quality time with his family, especially time spent with his three young children. When he isn’t working in the garden, he enjoys fishing, swimming, taking up a new hobby, or fixing broken toys around the house.

Carolina Botero loves to challenge herself and grow in knowledge. An architect by profession, she also holds a postgraduate degree in Real Estate Management from the National University of Colombia in Medellin.

She has extensive experience in project coordination, which allows her to have a holistic view of projects, providing efficiency and effectiveness to each process.

Carolina is convinced that teamwork is fundamental to achieve every goal. She always seeks to implement methodologies that contribute to the company’s objectives, contributing with her great leadership skills, love for design, and the expertise acquired through her professional history in architecture.

One of her great passions is cinema. She also loves family time and making crafts in her free time.

Carolina Calderón is an architect who has been designing commercial, educational, and urban projects, as well as overseeing construction projects for nine years. She holds a degree from the Universidad Nacional of Colombia in Medellin, where she discovered her love for exploring unique perspectives on space beyond traditional architectural pieces. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Studies.

In her professional practice, Carolina values social inclusion, equity, and human development. She strongly believes that collaborative work is crucial to success, and her experience working with diverse groups of professionals and people has reinforced this belief. She is open to new ideas and perspectives, and her work is characterized by a critical and analytical eye. Her excellent organizational skills and commitment enable her to develop projects effectively.

Outside work, Carolina enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring the great outdoors, playing Ultimate Frisbee, and dancing. She is fluent in Spanish and English.

Diana earned her architect’s degree in 2009 from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia, where she currently resides.

Her professional journey began in construction and transitioned to architectural design, accumulating more than a decade of experience. Subsequently, Diana pursued studies in Building Information Modeling (BIM) Methodology and became a leader in the BIM Implementation process across all departments of a company offering design, budgeting, cost estimation, and construction services.

Diana’s diverse background in construction, design, and BIM processes equips her with the necessary skills to effectively lead project teams in the best BIM practices and processes, as well as guide companies in implementing BIM methodology successfully.

Outside of her professional life, Diana has a deep love for nature and animals, which is why she cares for four rescued dogs and one cat. She also designed her home in the suburbs to have closer contact with nature and provide the best possible life for her animal family. Her interests extend to traveling, reading, playing the piano, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She is fluent in Spanish and English.

Gabriel’s journey into architecture was ignited at an early age by a profound belief in the power of design to shape not only physical spaces but also the human experience. Gabriel brings a well-rounded perspective to the table, and he is a strong advocate for collaboration, recognizing that the most impactful designs emerge from collective efforts.

Born and raised in Costa Rica, Gabriel holds a License Degree in Architecture from Universidad de Costa Rica, and a master’s degree in Universal Design from Universidad de Catalunya, Spain.

His international experiences, including living abroad and working on a variety of complex projects have enriched his architectural sensibilities and broadened his cultural horizons. His diverse architectural experiences, including hospitality, residential, mixed-use and retail centers, education, entertainment, health and wellness, and senior living, imbue him with a deep understanding of the industry’s unique demands, by creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional, sustainable, and future-ready.

Gabriel’s leadership extends beyond the drafting table, as he fosters a collaborative and innovative environment where all team member’s insights are valued and integrated into the final product to create projects that are not just well-executed but exceed client expectations.

Outside of work, Gabriel enjoys spending time with his two cats and dog, working out, going to the beach, spending time outdoors, surrounded by nature and practicing yoga and meditation. He is fluent in Spanish and English.

James Amos has over seventeen years of professional architectural experience in a range of projects including retail, food service/hospitality, office, residential, mixed-use and adaptive reuse.

He earned a Bachelor of Architecture with honors at the School of Architecture at University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program, an internationally prestigious multi-disciplined design school. During his time at UC, James studied under the Architectural Master, David L. Niland. Before working with Webber + Studio, Architects, James worked with notable firms including Antenora Architects, VLK Architects, Kohn Pedersen Fox International (London), FRCH Design Worldwide (Cincinnati) and Earl Swensson Associates (Nashville).

Additionally, James has seven years of experience in commercial real estate appraising.

Madison hails from Winston Salem, NC where she attended Appalachian State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Building Science. In 2018, she was the sole recipient of the Building Science Faculty award for Design Achievement, as the Senior lead of a student-led design build cohort.

She gained well-rounded experience working at a structural engineering firm, and then found her calling in design as a rising star at Webber + Studio. She loves the collaborative and open environment and her infectious enthusiasm is enjoyed by all.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, camping, and taking her dog, Milo, out for a swim.

Marek’s primary career focus has been on multifamily and commercial projects. His wealth of knowledge in architecture, construction coordination, and project management facilitate speedy, high-quality design and methodical execution from preliminary analysis through the construction phase. He is passionate about large-scale building and construction; you will often find him on site managing the technical translation of complex 2D designs into 3D realities.  Marek is a Registered Architect in the State of Texas #25630 NCARB Certificate #82823

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland Baltimore County, Marek went on to earn both a Bachelor of Science as well as a Masters in Architecture at the University of Maryland. Marek embraces the dichotomy of build-ability, aesthetics, and attention to detail. Prior to joining Webber + Studio as a project manager in 2016, he worked at Bonstra | Haresign Architects in Washington D.C. for 8 years. Marek is fluent in Czech, English, and German.

Maricruz Vargas is a talented architect and designer with extensive experience in hospitality, residential, wellness spaces, F&B, and mixed-use developments. She excels in managing and designing projects from conceptual stages to completion, consistently delivering high-quality results across architecture, interior design, FF&E, and OS&E.

Born and raised in Costa Rica, Maricruz’s passion for design has taken her around the world, shaping her approach to emphasize local context and sustainable practices.

Her experience includes working at Gensler, a global architecture, design, and planning firm, where she contributed to projects in San Jose, CDMX, Los Angeles, and New York. She also founded and led Leona Collective, her own design studio, serving as a platform for Costa Rican designers for five years. During this time, she focused on hospitality and residential projects for international clients in Costa Rica. Additionally, she held roles at La Laguna and Enjoy, two of Costa Rica’s top developers, as a senior architect and design manager, specializing in master planning and large-scale luxury hospitality projects and gated communities.

Maricruz graduated with honors from the Faculty of Architecture and Design of Universidad Veritas in 2016. Since then, she has been dedicated to creating tailor-made

and timeless designs and experiences. Her commitment to excellence and innovation, combined with her ability to effectively communicate and lead design teams, makes her an ideal fit as Senior Project Designer at Webber+Studio.

Rafael Jiménez is a storytelling enthusiast who draws inspiration from the convergence of nature and history. Forests, rivers, seas, and cities rich in narrative provide the backdrop for his creativity, shaping projects that resonate deeply with both the environment and the people. A left-handed thinker with a natural flair for creativity, Rafael enjoys supporting ideas through sketches and models while leveraging a wide array of technological tools and software tailored to each situation.

Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Rafael’s fascination with the vibrant colors, forms, and textures of architecture began at a young age. His curiosity about the interplay between buildings and urban spaces led him to pursue a degree in Architecture from the Universidad de Guadalajara, complemented by an internship at the Universitat de Girona in Spain.

Over the years, Rafael has lived in diverse locales, including Guadalajara, Girona, Mexico City, San José del Cabo, and Austin, Texas, each contributing to his rich architectural perspective. His professional experience spans an array of projects in Mexico, from intermodal transportation hubs to large-scale hospitality developments, as well as residential and office interventions in Guatemala, the United States, and France. This global exposure has broadened his understanding of architecture’s cultural and functional dimensions.

Rafael is passionate about every stage of the architectural process, from conceptualizing creative ideas to addressing construction inquiries. He sees storytelling as a vital tool not just for fiction but also for understanding and shaping reality. Since the age of 10, he has been writing stories, using narrative to ignite creativity, solve problems, and view the world through fresh perspectives.

A pivotal moment in Rafael’s life was surviving a train accident as a child. This experience instilled in him a profound appreciation for time, relationships, and the courage to make bold decisions. His friends often gift him train-themed items as a symbol of this life-changing event.

In his free time, Rafael enjoys singing in the car, doodling during conversations, and spending weekends camping and cooking. His unique blend of artistic sensibility, technical expertise, and global experience enables him to create projects that are as thoughtful as they are impactful

Ransom manages the Austin office and is the firm’s primary business specialist. He oversees the contractual and billing processes, and his years of experience at the Webber + Studio front desk make him uniquely able to guide clients through sensitive financial matters. He also acts as the firm’s chief technology guru, maintaining the complex tools and software we use to effectively execute our roles.

When not in the office, Ransom likes baking and spending time outdoors with David and their border collie, Beatrice.

As an integral member of the multifamily design team, Ray applies his innate leadership skills to the execution and coordination of complex projects. His innovative, conceptual approach to problem-solving combined with his mastery of leading-edge technical tools and 3D modeling software support the Webber + Studio mission to provide efficient, optimized design without sacrificing quality.

Ray hails from San Antonio and holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He enjoys home improvement projects, music, and spending quality time with his wife and dog.

Sofia is a Staff Designer born in Monterrey, Mexico, raised in Mission, TX, and a recent graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Architecture. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, and she also speaks a little bit of German!

Her passions include nature, serenity, and a sensitive design approach with values stemming from her love of creating spaces that enhance people’s experiences and foster community connection. She brings her knowledge, passion, and creativity to the studio, where she collaborates with her talented team on residential projects, ensuring that our client’s needs, desires, and personality traits are deeply considered during every step of the design process.

In her downtime, Sofia recharges by running along Lake Austin at sunset, drawing inspiration from nature’s beauty. A gifted artist, she enjoys painting, drawing, and crafting jewelry, along with a passion for discovering both new and classic films and music.

Stefan is a highly experienced architect whose level of commitment, expertise, and enthusiasm translates into unmatched value for our clients. As director of the firm’s operations across all studios, Stefan manages the architectural process ensuring helping to develop improved tools and train the staff on optimal management strategies. His years of experience, superior attention to detail, and technical steadfastness benefit clients and colleagues alike.  Stefan is highly process oriented and efficiency driven which he applies to help build an environment where project managers can be successful.  He is a Registered Architect in the State of Texas #27107

Born in Würzburg, Germany, Stefan Bader graduated with a Diplom Engineer degree in architecture from the Technische Universität München. He was a Research and Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, School of Architecture at the Center of Sustainable Development. Stefan achieved a Master of Science in Sustainable Design at UTSoA and, upon graduating, worked for 2 years at Rhode Partners with focus on residential, mixed-used residential, and hospitality projects in Austin, prior to joining Webber + Studio. Stefan is fluent in German, English, and French. Outside of the office, he enjoys coaching his son at soccer, serving his younger community as Cub Master, or spending time with his Bernedoodle.

Thomas Tornbjerg is the Managing Principal for Residential Architecture at Webber + Studio. Thomas holds a Master of Architecture as well as a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

In the 12 years prior to joining Webber + Studio, Thomas was the sole principal at Tornbjerg Design, a progressive, design driven, professionally licensed architecture firm focusing on custom-residential and development work. The office sought to leverage backgrounds in engineering and construction to realize Architecture that is highly resolved, technically competent and materially efficient. The work of Tornbjerg Design was featured in many home tours and several publications.

Prior to starting his own practice, Thomas spent six years at Bercy Chen Studio. During his tenure at Bercy Chen, Thomas served as both project architect and construction manager on The Cascading Creek House and The Peninsula Residence, steering the projects from initial client meetings through design, detailing, drawing, and construction.

Prior to his time at Bercy Chen Studio, Thomas worked five years with the consulting structural engineering firms of Encotech Engineering and Conrad Engineering.

Tom originally hails from Denmark and has spent the bulk of the last four decades in Texas. He finds frequent inspiration in the architecture and design of Scandinavia while being rooted in the landscape and traditions of Texas. He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, daughter and son.

Thomas Tornbjerg is a Texas licensed Architect. Reg. No. 24103.

Tomas has a Masters degree in Architecture with a special emphasis on Design Management from the University of Melbourne (Australia). With over fifteen years of extensive national and international experience, dedicated to the design and management of architectural projects, he is a great asset to the multifamily and commercial team.

When he is not collaborating with the U.S. and Colombian based team, Tomas may be found sailing, or cooking and trying new recipes.
